The Opioid Epidemic: A Call to Action
On December 6, 2018, Adrienne Maloof opened up her beautiful home and hosted our traveling seminar “Understanding the Opioid Epidemic: A Call to Action” which gave us a chance to reach guests from the Los Angeles community. DEA Educational Foundation board member EJ Milken and her husband, Gregory, along with board member Dr. Charles Sophy co-hosted the evening. Retired DEA SAC Robert Stutman and Dr. Sophy spoke about our nation’s opioid epidemic and the severity of it. Giving guests invaluable information about the epidemic with ideas on what they can do help combat it. DEA EF board members Helen Mars and Colleen Maloof attended in support of this important issue. Special guests included former DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart and her husband Gene Johns, along with Steve Murphy and Javier Pena, the DEA agents depicted in the Netflix series, Narcos. This event comes at a very important time in our country as we face the ongoing opioid epidemic that touches all walks of life.
